Meet Chef Emma

Emma grew up surrounded by food, winemaking and beautiful family gatherings.

With an innate love for cooking, food and memorable events she pursued a cookery diploma at EIT, earning the Top Student Award two years in a row. She also won a silver medal and the Innovation Award at the prestigious Toque d’Or Hospitality Competition in Auckland as part of a team event.

After supporting her study with part time work in kitchens at The Westshore Pub and Vidal’s Winery Restaurant, Emma’s Cookery Diploma and awards presented her with excellent career opportunities, allowing her to use her food skills in a range of notable Hawkes Bay Restaurants. At 20 years of age Emma gained the role of Commis Chef at The Farm at Cape Kidnappers, followed by Senior Chef at molecular gastronomy inspired restaurant Bistronomy which earned two Cuisine Hats during her time working there, Senior Chef at Malo which gained one Cuisine Hat, and Head Chef roles at Milk & Honey and St Martha.

Over the course of her career Emma has had the privilege of working alongside some incredible chefs, including Rick Stein (English celebrity chef), James Beck (chef and owner of Bistronomy), Callum Hann (Masterchef Australia Season Two runner up) and Chelsea Winter (Masterchef NZ winner).

After years working in some of the region’s top kitchens, working at high profile catering events such as F.A.W.C! (Food and Wine Classic), and managing catering events for a range of restaurants and caterers, she brings her expertise to Hill Road Catering. Here she combines her love for quality seasonal food and focus on high -quality presentation to create memorable dining experiences for weddings, events, and gatherings.
